MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Brooklyn character is getting his very own Macy’s character balloon.
Mario, Pac-Man, Buzz Lightyear, and Shrek are coming to New York City this Thanksgiving. The beloved characters are the newest balloons to be unveiled in the 99th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the company announced on Wednesday.
The balloons will make their first appearance during a test run in New Jersey on Saturday before heading to the streets of Manhattan on Thanksgiving Day.
“Since their introduction to the lineup in 1927, character balloons have become some of the most highly anticipated elements of the iconic holiday tradition,” read a press release. “Each year, Macy’s Studios welcomes new and beloved characters from entertainment and pop culture.”
At Macy’s Balloonfest, new balloons are test flown by a skilled Macy’s flight team during outdoor trials to gain experience ahead of their Thanksgiving Day flights.
The 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be held on Thursday, November 27, and will begin at 8:30 a.m. For more information, click here.
