NEW YORK (PIX11) — A straphanger is accused of shoving a good Samaritan into a moving train while she was breaking up a fight in a Manhattan subway station over the weekend, police and prosecutors said.
Aaron Nett, 33, allegedly attacked the 56-year-old woman on the platform of the southbound Nos. 2 and 3 trains in the 135th Street subway station in Harlem at around 12:40 a.m. Sunday, according to the NYPD.
Police said Nett and another man were arguing when the victim intervened before she was flung onto a moving southbound No. 2 train. The woman then bounced off the train and landed on the platform.
The woman suffered a hematoma with a laceration to the skull, multiple rib fractures, a hole and bleeding in the lungs, and spinal fractures, according to the criminal complaint.
She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Prosecutors said Nett was caught on surveillance video shoving the good Samaritan. It was unclear what the men were fighting about.
The Newark resident was arrested at the scene and charged with assault. He was arraigned on Monday and pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to court records.
Bail was set at $5,000 cash, $30,000 insurance company bond, or $15,000 partially secured surety bond. Nett is due back in court on Friday.
His attorney could not be reached Tuesday.
