LESTER, WV (WVNS) — A woman was arrested after she allegedly ripped a child’s teeth out while claiming the child “had a demon in her.”

According to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a child abuse report in the Lester area of Raleigh County on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Once on scene deputies were able to determine that the suspect, identified as Rebecca Bailey, had allegedly pinned her five-year-old daughter down and tried to pull the young girl’s teeth out. Witnesses said Bailey was yelling that the girl “had a demon inside her” while she was holding a cross.

Two of the five-year-old’s bottom teeth were pulled out.
