(NewsNation) — A peanut butter and jelly sandwich led to a Detroit woman getting kicked out of a virtual court hearing.

Asja Outerbridge was facing misdemeanor charges, accused of having an open alcohol container in a car as a passenger.

Judge Sean Perkins was displeased when Outerbridge showed up late to court, which Outerbridge later told the media was due to confusion over multiple court dates.

Outerbridge was seen on Zoom video picking up a jar of peanut butter as she tried to explain why she was late, with Perkins ordering her to put it down.

Outerbridge said she was making a sandwich for her sick daughter, showing the child on camera, which also revealed she was wearing a robe during the call.

Perkins then kicked her off the call after telling her the attire was inappropriate for court, even in a virtual setting.

Outerbridge said she had put the robe on while on hold for two hours and forgot to take it off. She told reporters she would genuinely like to apologize to the judge and show that she knows how to appear in court.
