BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Amherst Police are on scene of what appears to be a standoff at a home on North Bailey Avenue on Tuesday morning.

Police are calling it “an ongoing scene” and are instructing drivers to avoid the area of North Bailey between Maple Road and Sheridan Drive.

A WIVB photographer who has been on scene since around 7 a.m. said he heard police using a megaphone to address someone they believe is inside to answer the phone or come to the window with their hands up. A woman inside the home said that the person is not there. A WIVB crew on scene saw a woman and two children leave the home to talk to police.

NewsNation affiliate WIVB reached out to Amherst Police and was not given any additional details.
