CHICAGO (WGN) — Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. will be moved out of intensive care on Monday, according to a release from the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

Jackson, 84, has been receiving treatment at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The Civil Rights leader was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday for observation related to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

Rev. Al Sharpton, a friend of Jackson for more than 50 years, posted on social media Monday that he visited Jackson for an hour and that he remained in “good spirits.” Sharpton and Jackson’s family say he is alert and continues to share his vision to help feed thousands of families this season.

The 84-year-old activist was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Syndrome twelve years ago. Earlier in the year, doctors diagnosed Jackson with PSP.

There is currently no cure for the rare neurological condition.
