FAYETTE COUNTY, Ill. (KTVI) — A man accused of killing a 14-year-old girl is expected to appear in an Illinois court Monday.
Authorities say Arnold Rivera, 43, is charged in the death of 14-year-old Kylie Toberman.
Toberman was reported missing Thursday night. Vandalia Police posted an alert on Facebook, which has since been taken down. A woman identifying herself as her mother posted on social media that Kylie was found dead on Friday.
According to the Fayette County Jail, Rivera has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault and concealing a homicidal death. Rivera is being held without bond as authorities continue their investigation into Toberman’s death.
Court records show Rivera has a prior criminal history that includes sex-related allegations involving minors. In 2000, he was charged in Macon County with criminal sexual abuse of a victim between the ages of 9 and 16. That case was later dismissed in 2001.
Details surrounding Kylie’s death have not been publicly released. The Illinois State Police are leading the investigation with assistance from multiple local and federal agencies.
According to the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office, Rivera is set to be arraigned at 11 a.m. Monday morning.
