(WFRV) – Authorities in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, are urging the importance of talking to children about the dangers of taking “snacks” or “candy” from strangers after an 18-year-old man was arrested for drug-related charges Monday.

According to a news release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted a traffic stop Monday for an equipment violation but suspected there was something more going on and requested a K9.

Officials say K9 Rip arrived on the scene moments later and alerted to the vehicle leading to a search of the vehicle in question.

The search resulted in deputies finding a box that was shipped from Oregon to Wisconsin that contained over a pound of snacks and candy items believed to be infused with psilocybin mushrooms or THC.

Police say the colorful packaging makes it clear the products are designed to appeal to younger populations, but with no form of food testing or regulation, there’s no way to know what is in these products.

Deputies then arrested the 18-year-old driver from Madison and took him to the Fond du Lac County Jail where he is being held on drug-related charges.
