CHICAGO — Residents at a North Side apartment building got an unwelcome breath of fresh air on Friday morning after windows in the building’s lobby shattered as planes practicing for the Air and Water show flew overhead.

The incident unfolded at an apartment building in the 3000 block of North Lake Shore Drive in Lakeview.

While authorities have not confirmed if the incident was connected to the air and water show, jets flying overhead in the area could be heard and seen on Friday morning, with some passing over the area on Thursday afternoon as well.

The annual Air and Water Show is set to take the skies and shores of the Windy City this weekend.

Rehearsals began Friday, while the show itself takes place on Saturday, Aug. 16, and Sunday, Aug. 17, from 10:30 a.m. and to 3 p.m.
