STANFORD, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Lincoln County Middle School teacher was cited in the early hours of New Year’s Day after six teenagers allegedly admitted to drinking at a party at her home.

Court documents show that Lincoln County deputies were called around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 to a party at a home in the 200 block of South Loop Drive in Stanford, where they said nearly 20 people were drinking underage.

Authorities were told “several intoxicated children” were leaving the home of 44-year-old Jessica Berry, according to a citation.

Those drinking at the party ranged from ages 13 to 17, law enforcement officials noted. Deputies claimed that the minors brought alcohol there without Berry’s knowledge, and she reportedly told law enforcement that “this should not have happened,” and it wouldn’t happen again.

Some of the party attendees were allegedly drunk to the point of falling in the teacher’s yard, throwing up, and being walked home, according to the citation.

Berry was cited on two counts of third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Berry is a teacher at Lincoln County Middle School, a district spokesperson confirmed to FOX 56 News on Monday.

A Lincoln County Public Schools spokesperson told FOX 56 News on Jan. 5 that the district was aware of the charges against Berry, who has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues.

She’s due in court at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, court records show.
