ERIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — Fire crews rescued 20 people who were stranded mid-air Wednesday night after a ride malfunctioned at a carnival in the downtown area of Erin, Tennessee.

The City of Erin’s Fire Department said they were notified about the malfunction at approximately 8:42 p.m. Wednesday, March 12.

After gathering more information about the incident, Erin fire crews reportedly determined that their 75-foot aerial truck would not reach the stranded riders. As a result, they requested help from the Montgomery County Fire Service.

According to Montgomery County firefighters, the riders were stranded 65 feet in the air. Personnel said they used a 100-foot tower truck to rescue 19 riders and one carnival employee.

No injuries were reported and fire crews cleared the area just after midnight.
