(NewsNation) — Idaho Gov. Brad Little has sent state troopers to assist Texas Gov. Greg Abbott with border security.

“Our job as governors is to keep our people safe, Little said during an appearance on NewsNation’s “The Hill.” “One of the largest issues right now is drug trafficking, particularly fentanyl and human trafficking and crime.”

Little said the purpose of sending police to the border is to “be force multipliers” to help Abbott.

Republican governors in half of the U.S., including Little, have backed Abbott as he doubles down on his defiance of a Supreme Court ruling allowing federal agents to remove razor wire that the state installed along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Despite the SCOTUS ruling, Texas has vowed to “hold the line” and add more wire“ to deter and prevent unlawful entry” into the state.

Now, 25 GOP governors have united, releasing a statement of solidarity with Abbott for “stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigration, deadly drugs like fentanyl and terrorists entering our country.”
