EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 24-year-old Venezuelan man, who had been arrested and released by ICE only a few days prior for smuggling attempt, was arrested again for smuggling of persons, Texas DPS announced on Tuesday, Aug. 6 via its X account.

DPS said human smuggling scout and alleged “Tren de Aragua” gang member Maikel Diaz-Guerra, 24, of Venezuela, was wearing an ICE Tracking Watch when he was arrested during a traffic stop in El Paso.

Guerra was serving as the “lookout” for the other driver involved, Gildardo Perez III, 17, according to DPS.

DPS said they found three migrants concealed in the rear seat. Guerra and Perez were booked into jail for smuggling of persons.
