DHS offers $3K to undocumented migrants who self-deport by year’s end

(NewsNation) — The Department of Homeland Security is offering $3,000 to undocumented migrants who self-deport by the end of the year, up from an initial $1,000.

The Trump administration announced in May that it would offer free airline tickets and $1,000 stipends to some undocumented migrants if they sign up to self-deport and return to their native countries voluntarily.

The new incentive, first reported by CBS News, triples that stipend and applies to those unauthorized to be in the United States and register with the CBP Home app to self-deport by Dec. 31, 2025.

If determined to be eligible to receive the $3,000, qualified participants will also receive travel assistance and be waived of certain fines and fees. Officials said they will receive the stipend once their departure has been confirmed.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said those who don’t take advantage of the opportunity will be “found” and “arrested” and will “never return” to the United States.

DHS says those who attempt to self-deport via the app are deprioritized for federal arrest and detention as long as they make “meaningful strides” to leave the U.S., CBS News reported.
