(NewsNation) — An MS-13 gang member was one of 40 people arrested after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other federal law enforcement conducted an operation in Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, a report said.

Many of the people had previous criminal records, including the said gang member. At least one child sex offender was also apprehended.

“Operations like this highlight the strong alliances that ICE shares with our fellow law enforcement partners,” said Patricia H. Hyde, ICE enforcement and removal operations Boston acting field office director.

The U.S. Coast Guard safely transported those arrested from Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard using small boats and a cutter to support ICE operations on the islands.
