KEY LARGO, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida woman was stopped by federal agents on Wednesday, who forcibly removed her from her car despite her screaming that she was a U.S. citizen.

Video of the incident showed the woman, wearing medical scrubs, being pulled from the car and cuffed as agents put her into one of their own vehicles.

The woman could be heard screaming, “I’m a U.S. citizen, please help me,” as the agents are seen forcing her to the ground and placing her in handcuffs.

“Why are you doing this to me?” she yelled.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman told reporters with the Miami Herald that, after being pulled over, the woman refused to roll down her window and hand over her driver’s license.

The federal agents placed the woman in a patrol vehicle and searched her car, where they found her driver’s license and confirmed her citizenship.

According to reporters, she was released soon after.
