(NewsNation) — An estimated 17.4 million travelers are expected to be screened by the Transportation Security Administration over Labor Day weekend.
The TSA said it anticipates Friday to be the busiest travel day, with nearly 3 million travelers expected to take to the skies.
According to industry experts, lower travel costs are enabling more Americans to take trips.
Domestic round-trip flights are 6% more affordable than they were this time last year, averaging around $720 per ticket according to AAA.
American Airlines is expected to see its busiest Labor Day weekend ever with 3.9 million customers, and United is also set to hit a record with 3.1 million customers, according to Axios.
According to AAA, hotels are 11% less expensive than last year, and rental cars are 3% less expensive.
GasBuddy has predicted average gas prices will be $3.15 per gallon, 14 cents lower than in 2024 and the lowest price at the pump since Labor Day in 2020.
