(NewsNation) — The meeting of the minds at the “Contact in the Desert” conference could push the needle on UFO and unidentified anomalous phenomena, aka UAP, disclosure from the United States government.

NewsNation special correspondent Ross Coulthart joined “Morning in America” to talk about the conference that focused on UFO and UAP research.

“A lot of people are asking, ‘What is the U.S. government doing to address these concerns? Is Congress ever going to address this issue, or is it going to try and sweep it under the carpet?'” he said.

Coulthart also noted UFOs and UAPs are much bigger points of discussion now: “I can’t walk through an airport now in America without being stalked by people who know ‘Reality Check’ and want to talk about the possibility that the government is hiding something about UFOs.”

The conference goes until June 2, and Coulthart said that more than 2,000 people are in attendance: “A lot of them are highly professional people who want to talk in detail about experiences they’ve had and knowledge they’ve gained.”

Editor’s note: a previous version of this story listed an incorrect attendance number for the conference.
