(NewsNation) — The federal government and local police have been investigating sightings of unexplained drones in the New Jersey skies, but no answers have been forthcoming. Lawmakers want more to be done.
Republican state Sen. Doug Steinhardt told NewsNation he’s hearing from constituents who are concerned about the lights they are seeing in the night sky.
“Reports vary from specific patterned flights to multicolored lights in the sky,” he said.
The drones have been seen near sensitive locations, including President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course and an Army munitions depot.
The White House has offered little information, saying there is no evidence the drones have any connections to foreign adversaries.
Steinhardt said information has been hard to come by, even for legislators. He believes that the American public deserves an answer even if the drones turn out to be American assets.
Steinhardt also pushed back on dismissive responses from the government, suggesting nothing was amiss.
“It’s rather simple to be dismissive and tell folks that there’s nothing to see, but all you got to do is look up in the sky, and there’s lots to see,” he said.
