(NewsNation) — Cardinals have elected the 267th pope.
Cardinals have selected Robert Prevost as the 267th leader of the Catholic Church.
The naming of a new pope, signaled by white smoke flowing from a chimney at the Sistine Chapel, comes after two days of deliberation over who will lead the Catholic Church.
Thousands are now waiting in St. Peter’s Square for the arrival of the new pontiff at the window of St. Peter’s Basilica.
