Philadelphia Anchor Jessica Kartalija Joins NewsNation as a National Correspondent

NewsNation has announced that Jessica Kartalija will join the channel as a national correspondent. Based at the network’s New York bureau, Ms. Kartalija will officially begin her new role this week, where she will report across the network’s daytime and primetime programming.

An Emmy Award-winning journalist, Ms. Kartalija joins NewsNation from WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she served as a reporter for 6abc’s Action News. Previously, she was an anchor for CBS3 in Philadelphia and was awarded the 2024 “Television Broadcaster of the Year” by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. Prior to the local stations in Philadelphia, she spent 18 years as an anchor for CBS News Baltimore, Maryland. She began her career as a reporter for KYMA-TV in Yuma, Arizona.


Outside the newsroom, Ms. Kartalija is an adjunct professor of public speaking and journalism at Villanova University. A native of San Diego, she graduated from Penn State University’s Bellisario College of Journalism with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in Spanish. In 2016, she earned a master’s degree in marketing communications and media studies from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
