Vitriol between MAGA influencers is ‘frightening’: Mark Halperin

(NewsNation) — Infighting between conservative influencers and media personalities regarding Charlie Kirk’s assassination and his widow, Erika Kirk, has reached “frightening” levels, according to Mark Halperin.

The aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination has led to infighting among MAGA movement members and the subsequent rise of conspiracy theories and personal attacks within the sphere.

Halperin, the editor-in-chief of 2Way, joined “On Balance” on Thursday night and suggested the discourse is driven by personal rivalries and a normalization of extreme rhetoric and personal attacks in the political sphere.

Popular conservative Candace Owens has claimed Kirk’s death was “an inside job.” Fellow conservative commentator Tim Pool called Owens an “evil scumbag.”

“I’ve never seen anything like this in any part of our politics, and the level of personal vitriol and the things people say,” Halperin said.

“I got a pretty thick skin as a consumer of this stuff. It’s frightening to me how vicious it is, how personal and how much of it’s just based on conspiracies and lies.”
