(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump Wednesday hosted senior executives from major U.S. companies in Washington at an “Investing in America” event, focused on boosting investment in the U.S.
The “Investing in America” event highlighted planned investments across defense, tech, healthcare and infrastructure. Trump is expected to promote investments from companies such as Nvidia, GE Aerospace, Johnson and Johnson, Eli Lilly and SoftBank, despite uncertainty in global markets.
The meeting comes at a critical time as many U.S. businesses remain cautious and have hit pause, waiting for clarity on trade policies. Still, several major firms are moving forward with plans to expand U.S. manufacturing and research operations.
Small business leaders were also in attendance.
Trump aims to encourage both domestic and foreign companies to expand manufacturing in the U.S., even as his trade policies, particularly tariffs, have raised concerns among industries like aerospace, automotive and retail.
Some corporations have expressed a need for clearer guidance on trade and regulation before committing to large-scale investments. However, Trump has pointed to possible moves, including a reported $60 billion investment under consideration at General Motors, according to Reuters.
