(NewsNation) — Jack Schlossberg came out taking shots against his cousin, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., on the first day of his congressional campaign Wednesday.
The grandson of former president John F. Kennedy, Schlossberg, 32, announced on Instagram on Tuesday he will be running to succeed retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler, a Democrat, in New York’s 12th Congressional District.
On Wednesday, Schlossberg appeared in an interview with MSNBC, where he bashed Kennedy, calling him a “rabid dog.”
“RFK Jr. is a dangerous person who is making life-and-death decisions as secretary of Health and Human Services,” Schlossberg told MSNBC.
Schlossberg’s rise to semi-political prominence has been fueled by the large social media following he built through eccentric, often satirical, posts that frequently troll Republicans and MAGA figures while promoting progressive ideology. In 2024, he had the opportunity to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Schlossberg has been routinely critical of RFK Jr.
For Schlossberg, criticizing Kennedy is nothing new. He was immediately critical of Kennedy’s 2024 presidential bid, calling it an “embarrassment” and a “vanity project.”
After Kennedy dropped out and endorsed Trump, Schlossberg was again very critical of his cousin, posting on X: “Never been less surprised in my life. Been saying it for over a year — RFK JR. is for sale, works for Trump.”
Schlossberg has also taken opportunities to rail against his cousin since Kennedy assumed the role of HHS secretary within the Trump administration.
“RFK LOSER IS A THREAT TO PUBLIC HEALTH and AMERICAN SCIENTIFIC LEADERSHIP,” Schlossberg posted on X in September.
