(NewsNation) — Republicans holding out on supporting President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” need “some compromise” to change position, according to Congressman Greg Murphy, R-N.C.

Murphy joined “NewsNation Now” to discuss the holdout following a report from NewsNation partner The Hill of the president pressuring Republicans to get in line.

“I think they’re coming together more inch by inch, rather than foot by foot,” Murphy told NewsNation of the progress.

“There’s been good negotiations, fair negotiations, but we don’t need to bankrupt the country because New York, California, Illinois, have bad tax policy in their states,” he added.

Murphy noted that “some compromise” is needed to see an accord struck that is pleasing to both sides.
