(The Hill) — Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., on Saturday shared pictures of his face after being hospitalized for injuries tied to a fall.

“20 stitches later and a full recovery, I’m back home with @giselefetterman and the kids. I’m overwhelmed + profoundly grateful for all the well-wishes. Truly,” the lawmaker wrote in a statement on X

“Grateful for @UPMC for the incredible medical care that put me back together. THANK YOU SO MUCH. See you back in DC,” he added.

The post featured a picture of his face with a line of stitches stretching from his eyebrow to nose.

“During an early morning walk, Senator Fetterman sustained a fall near his home in Braddock,” a spokesperson told The Hill on Thursday.

“Upon evaluation, it was established he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that led to Senator Fetterman feeling light-headed, falling to the ground and hitting his face with minor injuries,” the spokesperson added. “He is doing well and receiving routine observation at the hospital. He has opted to stay so doctors can fine-tune his medication regimen.”

The spokesperson also noted that Fetterman made a self-deprecating joke about his face following the fall.

“If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!” Fetterman said in a Thursday statement.
