Fetterman admitted to hospital after fall, heart arrhythmia

(NewsNation) — Sen. John Fetterman, D-Penn., has been transported to a hospital after a fall during an early morning walk.

Fetterman’s social media confirmed he had fallen during a walk and was taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh, where it was determined that he had a flare-up of ventricular fibrillation that led him to feel light-headed, fall and hit his face.

Ventricular fibrillation is a heart arrhythmia where the lower chambers of the heart pump erratically, leading to a drop in blood pressure as the heart is unable to pump blood to the rest of the body.

It is considered a life-threatening arrhythmia and can cause cardiac arrest.

Fetterman is said to be doing well and under routine observation at the hospital, where doctors can adjust his medication.

He expressed gratitude for the EMTs, doctors and nurses who are taking care of him and joked about the impact of the fall.

“If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!” he said, according to his office.
