(NewsNation) — Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is drawing attention for amplifying a post on his online platform X.

The Tesla CEO this week responded to a user’s post calling for “White solidarity.” The post, in part, said “White men … will be slaughtered” if the group becomes a minority.

Musk’s comment: The emoji “100,” suggesting he’s 100% in agreement. This drew a cascade of responses from X users, some endorsing the view and others criticizing the South African native.

Steve Benen, a producer of “The Rachel Maddow Show” on MS NOW, called the post Musk amplified an “explicitly white supremacist message.”

“Now seems like a good time to ask: Are Republican officials and candidates going to keep accepting this guy’s campaign contributions? Or will Musk’s money eventually become radioactive?” Benen wrote in a blog.

Musk has denied allegations that he is racist or has white supremacist views, but he has come under fire for controversial comments or gestures. On Jan. 20, 2025, during a rally to celebrate President Trump’s second inauguration, he delivered a straight-arm salute that some interpreted as a Nazi gesture.

Musk served as an adviser to Trump on government efficiency last year before the two had an explosive falling out. Musk recently said on X that he had dinner with Trump and first lady Melania Trump at the president’s residence at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
