One race that has garnered interest is Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat, which is up for grabs since Democrat Debbie Stabenow announced she would not seek a fifth term.

Former CIA officer and U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who has represented Central Michigan in Congress since 2018, beat out Republican Mike Rogers, a former congressman and FBI agent, for the position.

US House races in Michigan

Republican Tom Barrett is projected to win Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.

Democrat Hillary Schloten is projected to retain her seat representing Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District.

Republican U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman is seeking his fifth term representing Michigan’s 1st Congressional District. Bergman, who has defeated four straight Democratic challengers in the district, will face Callie Barr, who worked as an attorney before deciding to make a run at Congress.

In the state’s 10th Congressional District, GOP U.S. Rep. John James is projected to defeat Democratic challenger Carl Marlinga in a rematch of a 2022 race that was among the closest in the U.S.

Democrat Hillary Scholten, who is seeking a second term, is being challenged by Paul Hudson in another battle that experts expect to be close.

On Tuesday, 468 U.S. congressional seats (33 Senate seats and all 435 House seats) are up for election.

Early voting in Michigan began Oct. 26. Polls close at 8 p.m. local time on Election Day.

Michigan is considered part of the “blue wall,” a set of states that have typically voted for Democrats in presidential elections since 1992.

Michigan voted for Democrats in six straight presidential elections between 1992 and 2012 before Trump claimed the state in 2016 by defeating Hillary Clinton by 0.2%. President Joe Biden defeated Trump in 2020 by 2.8%.
