WISE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Travis Turner, the Virginia high school football coach wanted on multiple child pornography charges.

Last week, Virginia State Police announced 10 warrants — five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor — had been issued for Turner.

On Nov. 20, agents with the Virginia State Police were en route to Turner’s Appalachia home as part of an investigation — and “not to arrest him,” per a statement — when they were informed the Union High School football coach was no longer there.

Authorities spent several days searching for Turner, 46, with efforts focused on the general location of his house, but they were unable to locate him.

An attorney for the Turner family provided a statement to Nexstar’s WJHL on Nov. 29, stating Turner left his home to “walk in the woods with a firearm” on Nov. 20, which was the last time his family had contact with him.

U.S. Marshals announced Monday that it was seeking Turner along with the Virginia State Police (VSP).

The U.S. Marshals’ poster on Turner described him as being 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 235 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Authorities noted he may be armed.

Anyone who sees Turner or has information about his location is asked to contact 911, the Virginia State Police or the U.S. Marshals.

WJHL’s Emily Hibbitts contributed to this report.
