CEDAR KEY, Fla. (WFLA) — Two teenagers were found safe Tuesday after disappearing while paddleboarding off Florida’s Gulf Coast.

The girls, both 16, went missing around 4 p.m. on Monday, March 17 paddling toward Cedar Key from Atsena Otie, according to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.

A photo taken of them earlier that day showed the girls sharing a black and white paddle board. Much of the state was enduring strong winds Monday.

“The girls have been located,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post Tuesday morning. “Cold but otherwise healthy!”
