(NewsNation) — Virginia State Police have issued a “critically missing adult alert” for U.S. Navy sailor Angelina Petra Resendiz.
Resendiz, 21, was last seen in her barracks in Miller Hall at Naval Station Norfolk around 10 a.m. on May 29, according to Virginia State Police.
Police said Resendiz is 5 feet tall, 110 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing an unknown description of clothing with no known vehicle.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service said her disappearance “poses a credible threat to their health and safety.”
Resendiz’s family said they spoke to her daily. Resendiz’s longtime friend, Ella Sumrall, emphasized on “Morning in America” that the disappearance is concerning and completely out of character.
“It’s very out of character for Agnie to act this way. We have absolutely no earthly idea what could be going on. Everyone in her circle is scared,” Sumrall said. “This is nothing like Angie at all. She had a very tight circle. And she would at the very least hold on to some of those people if she were to have gone AWOL.”
Sumrall said Resendiz had a plan that included retiring from the Navy at some point and always encouraged her friends to do “amazing things.”
“She is just such a great person,” Sumrall said. “She has always done such amazing things, and she has always pushed every one of her friends to do amazing things, to get out of this small town, to push yourself to your limits.”
Anyone with information on Resendiz’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Naval Criminal Investigative Service at (877) 579-3648. Anyone who sees her can also call 911.
