(NewsNation) — The search for an Ohio man who authorities call an “experienced” hunter has now entered a fifth day.
According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Devon Dobek, 51, was in the Mount Hood National Forest in Sandy, a city that’s about 28 miles east of Portland. They said in a Facebook post that Dobek never returned to his home in Hubbard, Ohio, after the Oregon trip.
The sheriff’s office said around 50 people have joined search efforts, and multiple agencies, including Portland Mountain Rescue, are taking part as well.
“Despite the return of rainy conditions, an Oregon Army National Guard helicopter was able to assist in the search, along with continued drone operations equipped with thermal imaging capabilities,” the office wrote.
They went on to add that they will focus on parts of the forest that were burned in the 2020 wildfires.
“The area is full of fallen trees, making navigation extremely challenging,” they wrote. “Crews plan to continue searching into the night hours.”
