VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Former New York Giants cornerback Sam Beal has been missing for six months, according to a case file surfaced by multiple news outlets including NBC Sports and TMZ.
Beal went missing from Virginia Beach on July 13, 2025, according to a file in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.
Beal, 29, was last seen by his girlfriend on July 12, the case file recounts. Beal was reportedly borrowing her car and had dropped her off at her family member’s house. While he was supposed to be heading to work, he told his girlfriend on July 13 he had actually gone to Virginia Beach.
The vehicle was found in Virginia Beach with Beal’s shoes and socks on the front passenger-side floorboard along with sand on the floor. According to the case file, Beal only had taken the clothes he was wearing, a pair of slides and his wallet when he dropped off his girlfriend.
“We’ve done everything we could on our end to piece things together and at this point we’re in desperate need of support on all ends,” a woman identifying as Beal’s sister wrote in a Facebook post on Monday.
“I’m not here to answer a bunch of why’s and how’s I just need this to land in the right direction to gain some form of answers or closure,” the post continues. “I’m a Big sister and I need my brother to know that We Love You and miss you and this has been a heavy feeling for months to carry around.”
Beal was selected by the New York Giants in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft and played with the team until his release in 2021.
Nexstar’s WAVY reached out to Virginia Beach Police for more details on the case, but didn’t hear back by publication time. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the department at (757) 385-4141.
