(NewsNation) — The body of a Princeton University student who was reported missing last week has been found at a local lake on Friday, school officials said.

Lauren Blackburn, 23, was last seen around 6 p.m. on April 19 near the Firestone Library on the school’s campus in New Jersey, authorities said. On Friday, the university announced that Blackburn was found at Lake Carnegie on Friday morning.

The school did not provide any further details about the discovery of the body or the undergraduate student’s cause of death.

“Our hearts are heavy and we share our deepest condolences with Lauren’s family and friends,” the school said in a statement.

Police began searching Lake Carnegie early Tuesday morning and reportedly said a missing person’s phone pinged in the area. It was not clear if the phone belonged to Blackburn.

Princeton students were invited to gather to support one another and reflect in the wake of Blackburn’s death. Police have not said whether foul play is suspected.

It is during these difficult times that we must draw strength and support from one another and from those in our community who are available to us for counsel and care,” the university statement said.

“We know that every member of our community joins us in sending our condolences to Lauren’s family, friends, and loved ones and in wishing them strength in this most difficult time.”
