New Orleans police escalate alert for missing 12-year-old Bryan Vasquez

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A Level II Endangered and Missing Child alert has been sent for a boy missing from the New Orleans East area.

The Louisiana State Police and the New Orleans Police Department are searching for 12-year-old Bryan Vasquez.

Authorities said Vasquez was reported missing from his Beaucaire Street home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14. At 1:39 a.m., Friday morning, Aug. 15, the alert was elevated to a level two.

He was reportedly last seen wearing an adult diaper and believed to be walking in an unknown direction.

Troopers describe Vasquez as a Hispanic male with brown eyes and black hair. He stands about 5’1″ and reportedly weighs between 86 and 100 pounds.

Additionally, his family reports that he suffers from a neurodevelopmental condition, is non-verbal and does not understand English or Spanish.

NOPD officials are asking residents in the area of Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road to Michoud Boulevard to Interstate 510 to check their back yards, under raised homes and buildings.

While Bryan is a student at ReNEW Laurel, the circumstances of his disappearance are not connected to the school.
