(NewsNation) — Authorities in Oregon are asking for the public’s assistance in the search for a missing 78-year-old man.

Thomas Weightman was reported missing on Oct. 14. According to his family members, he left home on foot at around 10 a.m. but did not return.

The family had brief cell phone contact with Weightman, who said he fell into a hole and wasn’t sure where he was.

The Forest Grove Police Department attempted to triangulate the position of Weightman’s cell phone but was unsuccessful due to the remoteness of the area.

Search efforts are underway, and investigators are asking residents along Gales Creek Road for help checking their property.

Weightman is 5’9″ and weighs 165 pounds with gray hair and a gray beard. He wears glasses and was last seen wearing black shoes, blue jeans and a red flannel button-up shirt with a dark-colored baseball cap.

Anyone who has seen Weightman after 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 should call 503-629-0111. If anyone finds Weightman, they should call 911.
