(NewsNation) — A missing 14-year-old girl from Georgia has been found safe, local authorities said.
“So far, DeKalb County Police’s investigation does not point to an abduction,” police said in a statement to local news outlet 11Alive. No further details have been released regarding Amy Reidling’s disappearance.
Amy’s family previously told local news they believed she was lured away from home by someone she met online.
She was last seen at her home Sept. 21 in the city of Decatur around 2 p.m. local time. Her stepmother, Ginny Rutledge, discovered she was missing that evening when returning from dinner.
“I opened the door, and she was gone. Tore the house apart, called 911 at 9:15,” Rutledge told the station. “No one’s messages have been read. Every time we call, it goes straight to voicemail.”
Rutledge said she and Amy had been shopping for accessories to match her homecoming dress for the upcoming dance earlier that day, which she said Amy had been looking forward to attending. Her family also theorized that the person may have coached her on how to run away from home.
The DeKalb County Police Department was investigating her disappearance.
