(NewsNation) — The search continues for a British woman who went missing from a beach in Northern Greece on Aug. 1.
Michelle Ann Joy Bourda, 59, was reported missing from Ofrynio beach in the city of Kavala, according to a translated missing persons report.
Bourda had gone swimming with her husband before she was last seen at around noon local time, the report said.
Her husband was asleep on a nearby sunbed when she disappeared, People magazine reported.
A sports instructor who was on the beach when she went missing reported having a conversation with someone who matched her description, according to LBC radio network.
The instructor said he saw a woman in deep water and warned her not to go out any further.
Bourda is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, thin, with shoulder-length blonde hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a two-piece swimsuit, yellow shoes and red sunglasses.
A Greek missing persons charity issued a Silver Alert the day after she was reported missing.
“Her life is in danger. If you know anything, contact the Silver Alert service, 24 hours a day, at the National SOS Line 1065,” the alert said.
Local authorities and the Hellenic Coast Guard are currently searching for Bourda on land and sea.
“The search is very much on, with a patrol vessel and other recreational boats out scouring the seas all along the Strymonian Gulf,” a coastguard official told the Guardian Monday.
