(NewsNation) — The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the body found during an open-field search as 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos.

The medical examiner determined she died from a gunshot wound to the head and ruled the manner of death a suicide.

Authorities discovered the body Tuesday on the 10000 block of FM 1560, about a quarter-mile from Mendoza Olmos’ home as they continued searching for the missing teen, who disappeared on Christmas Eve.

Investigators said there were signs of self-harm at the scene and recovered a gun that belonged to a relative and had previously been reported missing.

Mendoza Olmos was last seen around 7 a.m. Christmas Eve in dashcam and surveillance video showing her walking along a roadway near her home. Investigators said she left her phone charging at home and was also captured on a neighbor’s Ring camera checking inside her car before leaving.

Earlier this week, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar told NewsNation that investigators were considering all possibilities in the case, including whether Mendoza Olmos left voluntarily, was experiencing mental health issues or had been taken.

Authorities later said they did not suspect homicide but processed the scene out of caution.

“We’re considering all options at this point, all theories at this point, everything from willful absence, she may have run away from home willingly, there may be some issues with self-harm. That’s something we’re taking into consideration,” he said. “But also, we’re considering the fact that she may have been taken.”

Another missing teen in the area, Sofia Gabriela Peters-Cobos, was found safe, authorities announced Tuesday.
