(NewsNation) — In a small Wyoming town, nestled at the base of the Big Horn mountains, a father who communicated with his daughter daily has been missing since May, and his family is searching for answers.
James “Bo” Galloway was a lifelong resident of Wyoming, with its wide open spaces and rich western culture.
“He loved to be outdoors,” said stepdaughter Kiara Coen. “So anything that I know outdoorsy primarily came from him.”
Bo Galloway was close to his family
Galloway, 53, raised a daughter and step-daughter in the cowboy state and was known to stomp around the woods in his ghillie suit for fun.
He had a long marriage that netted him a lifelong confidant even after it ended.
“Bo is my best friend,” said ex-wife Jaime Banks. “Out of all the people in the world, he is who I would trust my life with.”
While Galloway’s family says he battled addiction, he was a consistent presence in his teenage daughter’s life.
“I would talk to him pretty much every day, and then he just started acting weird all of a sudden,” said Madelyn Galloway. “That’s when I realized something was off.”
Banks noticed something was different as well.
“He called and asked me for help, which that in itself was out of the norm, and I went and I picked him up and he told me what was going on, he told me how afraid he was,” Banks said. “He never really put in exactly as to why he was so fearful, but in all the years I’ve known him, and all the times of people being on their vices, as you would say, I’ve never experienced him in such a paranoid state.”
Madelyn Galloway saw her dad once, days after Banks’ bizarre exchange, and then he vanished.
Bo Galloway disappears
“I was on the phone with my mom, and she said that they were very worried that they hadn’t seen or talked to him, so they were going to go do a report,” Coen said.
The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office said it started working the case and found reports that a man trespassing at the county airport days earlier matched Galloway’s description.
Stacy Koester, the founder of Wyo-find, has launched multiple searches in the air, on foot, and even in the water, looking for Galloway.
“Could he wander off for a couple days? Yes, but the likelihood of him being out there all this time is very slim to none,” Koester said.
Searching for Bo Galloway
After being summoned by one of Galloway’s friends to see some pictures, the team made a strange discovery.
“We happened to notice a ghillie suit laying there and we asked about it, just a general question, ‘Do all of you guys have ghillies? Is this like a thing that you guys do?'” Koester said. “And he just said, ‘No, it was Bo’s.’ He had taken it after Bo was reported missing.”
The pictures were taken inside the property Galloway rented. Drawings, artwork and words covered every conceivable surface.
It looks bizarre to an outsider, but not to Galloway’s daughter.
“I just think it was a comfort thing that he would do,” Madelyn Galloway said. “He really liked drawing.”
Bo Galloway’s family seeks answers
Bo Galloway’s dogs were left alone in that house, something his family insists he would never willingly do.
Nor would he ever leave his daughters or granddaughters.
“No matter the things and the demons that he battled, he was still a human being who was loved by man,” Banks said. “His life was no less important than anyone else’s.”
The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office in Wyoming told NewsNation it has executed at least five search warrants in the case, including one for Galloway’s social media accounts. Those accounts are in the process of being analyzed.
