(NewsNation) — Diabetes, a chronic health condition that affects how the body turns food into energy, affects more than 38 million Americans, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Diabetes develops when blood sugar levels are too high, preventing the pancreas from producing enough insulin the body needs.
Per the CDC, these are the 10 warning signs:
- Peeing a lot, often at night
- Weight loss without trying
- Excessive thirst
- Extra hunger
- Blurry vision
- Numb or tingling hands or feet
- Fatigue
- Dry skin
- Slow-to-heal sores
- Increased infections
Type 1, Type 2 and gestational are the three common forms of diabetes.
