Priest trades collar for apron to serve community at Kentucky grocery store

ISOM, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Rev. Jim Sichko traded his collar for an apron this week, spending time working the checkout line at the Isom IGA.

As a papal missionary of mercy appointed by the late Pope Francis, the priest’s mission has been to spread kindness beyond the Vatican walls.

From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, every customer in Sichko’s checkout line walked out with free groceries.

The gesture carried a special meaning after he helped the store rebuild in the wake of devastating flood damage in 2022.
