SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — A Mississippi couple celebrated their 60th marriage anniversary at Chick-fil-A in Southaven, Mississippi, after eating lunch at the restaurant every day for the past two years.
“Same time every day, and we’re here every day,” said David Koons.
Employees turned the Koons’ daily date into a special anniversary celebration
“They had a table all dressed up balloons and everything,” said David Koons. “That made our 60th anniversary stand out of all. It’s one we’ll never forget, that’s for sure.”
David and Norma Koons are 82 and 83 years old.
“They put a smile on everybody’s face. They just so nice, easy, not looking for much. And it’s just like the simplest things like, can make people smile,” said Wendolyn, an employee.
He says the key to a lasting marriage may not come wrapped in a bow but a red and white box instead.
