MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A new military charity, Miles for Military, provided a flight Saturday, Jan. 10, for U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Yoshira Conway to return to her base in Guam after reuniting with her family for the holidays.

Airman Conway was stationed at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam and had not seen her family since December 2024.

She earned the flight by volunteering at the Andersen AFB chapel, performing as a singer and helping feed the homeless.

Miles for Military allows active-duty service members to trade volunteer hours for flights they might not otherwise afford.

She departed from Memphis International Airport at 7:08 a.m. CST on American Airlines, with her mother accompanying her to the airport.

Maureen Byrne, founder of Miles for Military, said the program flew more than 500 service members home in 2025 and plans to expand nationwide.
