(NewsNation) — Latin Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Luis Fonsi has been producing hits and helping others for over a decade.

The “Despacito” singer has been working with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for 16 years and is part of its Thanks and Giving campaign this holiday season.

Families that receive treatment through St. Jude never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food.

Fonsi joined “Morning in America” on Monday to discuss his partnership with the organization that helps fight childhood cancer.

“When Thanksgiving, Christmas comes along, we always connect with St Jude and invite everybody to donate,” Fonsi said.

“Its mission is finding cures, and saving children, and we can’t forget that. Now we’re out there doing our Christmas shopping. We’re celebrating life, we’re celebrating joy but right now St. Jude needs us and a lot of kids, they need our support. So I invite you guys to donate.”

Fonsi, now a father of two, recognizes the importance of his involvement more so these days.

“I’ve had so many conversations with parents, and you obviously connect. Now that I’m a father, you connect even more,” he said.

There are various ways to donate to St. Jude, including purchases through its gift shop, sending holiday cards, and donating toys for Christmas.
