DENVER (KDVR) — The term Christmas miracle often gets tossed around when something good happens around this time, but at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital on the very day itself, an employee says she witnessed a true miracle first hand.

Veronica Suazo has worked in animal care for a handful of years, but what she saw on Christmas morning was a first.

“I was just a little emotional,” Suazo said.

Even though Santa had long returned to the North Pole, his giving spirit had rubbed off on at least one man who came into the animal hospital around 8 a.m.

“Said that he was gonna hang out here for a couple hours and pay anybody that came into the emergency room’s exam fees,” Suazo said.

Inside this Santa’s toy sack, envelopes with a check to cover the nearly $200 emergency room fee. Suazo was in shock.

“I did not know this person, I didn’t even know it was happening today,” she said.

She said the man, who wished to remain anonymous, covered the fees for at least 10 different people while he was there, and left some more envelopes behind for people who came later.

“Some of them were like, no, let’s save it for the next person. Other people were crying because they didn’t know how they were going to afford to get their pet help,” Suazo said.

Bringing relief, she said, that many people who step inside the hospital’s doors don’t know if they’ll ever get.

“It gives me so much joy that people can actually bring their babies home,” Suazo said.

A kind hearted holiday gesture, she said, that means the world to see.

“Absolutely a Christmas miracle,” Suazo said.

She said on top of the envelopes, the man also donated $400 to the hospital’s charity fund.
