(NewsNation) — Celebrity chef Robert Irvine served a Thanksgiving feast to U.S. and NATO troops in Romania on Tuesday through a partnership with Armed Forces Entertainment.

Irvine told “Morning in America” he’s grateful for an opportunity to spread holiday cheer and give back to those who fight for Americans’ freedom.

“I will tell you our NATO forces are strong, our American forces are very strong, obviously. There’s some conflict in this part of the world, and bringing a piece of home, a Thanksgiving meal to them, I am very appreciative,” Irvine said. “I let the folks at home know they’re in good hands because the men and women will wear the cloth of our nation, stood right here, 58 miles from Ukraine, taking care of business.”

Irvine said the feast included ribeye steaks, ribs and crab legs, all of which are rarely seen on military bases.

His visit to the area comes as Ukraine and the United States have agreed to a peace deal to end the four-year war with Russia, with some details still to be worked out, a U.S. official confirmed to NewsNation early Tuesday.
