American woman falls for English Airbnb host’s son

“I think anybody, probably who’s from the U.S. would probably think, or, dream of something like this happening. We’ve grown up watching Hallmark movies in the holiday and so it has felt so surreal,” Megan told “Morning in America.” “The fact that we’re even sitting here, just so crazy.”

Megan, who prefers not to share her last name, sought a mental break after watching the Eaton fire in Pasadena destroy her hometown. Although she was working in London at the time, the emotional toll became overwhelming, and her job encouraged her to take a mental break.

Megan booked an Airbnb in a rural area, drawn in by the host’s background as a therapist, according to People Magazine.

James said he never imagined one of his family’s Airbnb guests would turn into a romantic interest.

“I had no idea who she was, or how old she was, or anything about her; I was just willing to help out. It was really just a magical bonus that it was Meg that I picked up, and I think it was quite natural from the moment we met,” he said.

Although James’s mom was supportive, he admitted he was initially “nervous” because of the dynamic—Megan was still a guest in their home.

“I kind of had to not break it to mum, but almost ask her permission to take her up, which is quite a strange feeling. But now she’s she’s very approving, and I think because Meg had to meet mom so early, it just felt very natural from the start. There was no kind of build-up; it was like you were here the whole time,” he explained.

Though they only met two months ago, the couple says they’ve experienced some “magical” moments.

“It’s still pretty new. But I think both of us can say that in the midst of it still being very magical and honeymoon phase, I think that there’s been a lot of magical depth between us. I think there’s a lot of confidence that there’s a strong future,” Megan said.

The couple also mentioned they’d be open to the idea of their story becoming the next Hallmark movie if anyone’s interested.
