MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — While childbirth is a very hands-on process, some 911 operators in Middle Tennessee managed to help a couple through it over the phone early Saturday morning.

According to the Maury County Fire Department, units responded to a report of a child birth in progress shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27.

Officials said the couple knew they couldn’t make it to the hospital, so they pulled over at Maury County Fire Station 7, located at the intersection of Bear Creek Pike and U.S. Route 431.

However, dispatchers reportedly provided instructions and talked the couple through the process before deputies and first responders arrived. When units did get to the fire station, they found a healthy baby and mother, both of whom were taken to the hospital by Maury Regional EMS.

“Too often our 911 operators don’t get the credit they deserve for the work that they do, so please join us in showing appreciation for a job well done!” the Maury County Fire Department wrote on Facebook.

Maury County 911 shared the fire department’s post, adding, “Shoutout to B Night Shift for assisting with the delivery of a healthy baby!”

The baby’s father, Jonathon Todd, reached out to NewsNation affiliate WKRN on Sunday, saying that his wife and his newborn son — named Duke James Todd — are perfectly healthy and already back home. Jonathon even shared a photo of his beautiful baby boy.

“We wanted to thank the first responders, the 911 operator, and above all else, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior,” Jonathon said in an email. “Without Him, this wouldn’t have happened smoothly!!!! God bless!”
